"Resonancias de un instante" (Resonances of an Instant) comprises a series of twelve large-format canvases featu- ring the 12 pure pigments most widely used throughout Art History. These works were directly intervened by the devastating effects of the October 29, 2024 DANA (flash flood) inside the artist’s own studio in Paiporta, Valencia.

The pictorial installation evokes the ideas of memory and the footprint, the echoes of a specific moment in time frozen on that October afternoon. The presence of these pigments anchors the work within the Western pictorial tradition, where each color carries a specific symbolic and technical value. Their deterioration symbolizes not merely the passage of time, but the inherent vulnerability and fragility of all cultural forms. This installation dialogues with the ideas of German philosopher Walter Benjamin, who, in his seminal essay The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction, underlines the significance of the "aura" in artwork and how it is threatened by physical and temporal alterations. The intervention on the canvases, marked by visible trauma, is interpreted here as a metaphor for the loss of the original aura in the face of disruptive events, but also as an act of resistance, a material memory that defies oblivion.

 

"Resonancias de un instante" reflects on how Art, as both historical testimony and aesthetic vehicle, is subjected to external and internal forces that threaten its existence, confronting visitors with their own vulnerability before natural and cultural phenomena. It stands as a call to recognize that artistic heritage is not just an object of physical conservation, but an ethical act tied to our collective responsibility to preserve its memory against the onslaughts of time and nature.

"Resonancias de un instante" se compone de una serie de doce lienzos de gran formato que presentan los 12 pigmen- tos puros más empleados a lo largo de la historia del Arte y que a su vez fueron intervenidos por los efectos devasta- dores de la Dana del 29 de octubre de 2024 en el propio taller del artista en Paiporta, Valencia.

La instalación pictórica evoca la idea de la memoria y la huella, los ecos de un momento específico en el tiempo ocurrido aquella tarde de Octubre. La presencia de estos pigmentos remite a la tradición pictórica occidental, donde cada color posee un valor específico, tanto simbólico como técnico. Su deterioro simboliza no solo el paso del tiempo, sino también la vulnerabilidad y fragilidad inherente a toda forma cultural. Esta instalación dialoga con las ideas del filósofo alemán Walter Benjamin, quién en su obra La obra de arte en la época de la reproductibilidad técnica subraya la importancia del aura en la obra de arte y cómo ésta se ve amenazada por posibles alteraciones físicas y temporales. La intervención en los lienzos, marcada por daños visibles, se interpreta aquí como una metáfora de la pérdida del aura original ante eventos disruptivos, pero también como un acto de resistencia, una memoria material que desafía el olvido.

Resonancias de un instante, reflexiona sobre cómo el Arte, como testimonio histórico y vehículo estético, está some- tido a las fuerzas externas e internas que amenazan su existencia, confrontando al visitante con su propia vulnera- bilidad frente a los fenómenos naturales y culturales. Es un llamado a reconocer que el patrimonio artístico no es solo objeto de conservación física, sino también un acto ético ligado a nuestra responsabilidad colectiva para preservar su memoria ante las acometidas del tiempo y la naturaleza.
